 Kathmandu, Jan. 29: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the government had set the goal of fulfilling the nation's desire by making country prosperous and citizens happy as envisaged by the martyrs.
Issuing a message on the occasion of the Martyr's Day 2077 on Friday, Prime Minister Oli said, "From the sacrifices made by martyrs Sukraraj Shastri, Dasarath Chand, Dharma Bhakta Mathema and Gangalal Shrestha, we have been able to ensure social justice and rule of law by ending the Rana regime, autocratic Panchayat system and monarchy and establishing a federal democratic republic system of the government."
Paying tribute to all the brave martyrs who had sacrificed their invaluable lives during the democratic movements in the nation, Prime Minister Oli said that the democratic system obtained from the sacrifices of the martyrs had been institutionalised today by ensuring and protecting the rights of all citizens.
Stating that the martyrs had envisioned nation's prosperity and citizens’ happiness, the Prime Minister said, "As we have been moving forward in full swing for the construction of physical infrastructure, providing social security, constructing planned settlement for the crisis-affected people and construction of infrastructures to strengthen the health and education system of the nation, we are striving for fulfilling the vision of our brave martyrs."
The Prime Minister further went on to say that a stable political system was mandatory to fulfill the 'Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepalis' campaign. "We must unite to defeat all the challenges that are on our way to maintain stability in the nation," he added.
"I expect that on the occasion of Marty's Day, everyone will get inspired to work actively in a selfless manner for the benefit of society and nation" said the Prime Minister.
Meanwhile, the Martyrs Day is being observed across the country on Friday by paying tribute to all known and unknown martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the welfare of the nation and people.
Magh 16 of the Nepali lunar calendar every year is marked as the National Martyr’s Day, commemorating those who were executed by the Rana rulers in 1941 for initiating democratic movements in the country and several others who fought for the country in the later dates.
To mark the day, a morning procession will take place from Shanti Vatika, Ratnapark, which will be attended by ministers, heads of the constitutional commissions, high-ranking government officials and general public.
The rally will later turn into a condolence assembly after reaching Martyr’s Memorial Park, Lainchaur. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is scheduled to attend the condolence assembly, KMC informed.
Similarly, in honour of those who attained martyrdom, Nepal Army is also scheduled to offer cannon salute at 12:00 pm in Tudilkhel.
