Kathmandu, Jan. 23: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said on Friday that the upcoming mid-term elections would be clean, fair and independent and the government was dedicated to hold them on the stipulated dates.
Addressing the 20th anniversary of the Armed Police Force (APF) Nepal at Halchowk this afternoon, Prime Minister Oli instructed the force to get ready to face any untoward incidents that might be staged to prevent the elections from taking place.
‘Let me assure you all that the election will take place on the scheduled date. Rumours of launching a 'non-veg movement’ to prevent the elections have also been there. Be prepared to face it, "said Prime Minister Oli.
A few days ago, Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda and Madhav Nepal faction of the NCP had said that there should be a strong agitation against the dissolution of the House of Representatives.
Prime Minister Oli also revealed the election plans in some provinces in the first phase on April 30, 2021 and in others in the second phase on May 10, 2021.
"In the first phase, we can hold the polls in Province 2, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudur Paschim Provinces," Oli said. "In the second phase, I am planning to hold them in Province 1, Bagmati and Karnali Provinces."
Prime Minister Oli said that decision in that regard would be taken soon. He also urged one and all to be aware of any unwanted activity during polls.
Prime Minister Oli also informed that vaccination against COVID-19 would kick off from January 27.
He said the campaign to defeat the Corovnavirus had begun in the country and had reached a turning point of its control. He informed that the people deployed in the frontline would receive the jabs first.
