Kathmandu, July 8: The crucial talks between the chairmen of the ruling Nepal Communist Party on resolving the differences seen in the party remained inconclusive also on Tuesday.
However, the two leaders agreed to meet again on Wednesday to sort out their differences ahead of the party’s Standing Committee meeting.
The one-on-one meeting between Prime Minister and party chairman KP Sharma Oli and another chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ lasted for two and a half hours.
Party Spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha said that like earlier meetings the meeting between the party chairs today failed to iron out the differences.
However, they have agreed to sit again for another round of dialogue, said Shrestha.
Prime Minister Oli’s Press Advisor Surya Thapa said the two chairmen had sat for two and a half hours, but failed to reach a consensus.
They have agreed to meet again tomorrow to resolve the differences in the party, said Thapa, who is also the deputy chief of NCP publicity department.
The meeting of the Standing Committee is scheduled for 11:00 am Wednesday at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar.
The meeting of the Standing Committee has been postponed several times stating that the chairmen needed more time for discussion to sort out the latest political rift besetting the party.
The meeting of the party’s Standing Committee has continued since June 24 on the agendas of party unity, government performance review, COVID-19 prevention and treatment, Millennium Challenge Corporation and constitution amendment, among others.
Preparation is being made to settle the dispute in the party and continue the Standing Committee meeting, said Thapa.
