Kathmandu, July 6: The meeting of the two chairmen of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP), Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, held on Sunday also failed to narrow down the latest rift in the party.
As an effort to sort out the latest differences within the party, party Chairmen PM Oli and ‘Prachanda’ sat for talks at PM’s residence in Baluwatar.
The meeting went on for around two hours, said Surya Thapa, Press Advisor to PM.
General Secretary of the party, Bishnu Poudel, Energy Minister Barshaman Pun and Standing Committee members Shankar Pokharel and Janardan Sharma were also present in the meeting.
The meeting held to forge consensus between the top brass of the party ended without forging one.
However, the details of the meeting are yet to be made public.
The chairs duo will sit for talks again on Monday before attending the Standing Committee meeting, he said.
Thapa further added that before Monday’s meeting, four leaders, including Poudel, Pun, Pokharel and Sharma, would do homework on the recent political feud.
The top brass of the party have been holding a series of dialogues in the wake of intra-party feud as

seen in the ongoing Standing Committee meet and pressure has been exerted by the party leaders to resolve the differences so as to keep the party unity intact.
Speculations have it that the latest political rift might lead the party towards split. The standing committee and central committee members of the party have been asking the top leaders to sort out the differences and work towards saving the party unity.
The co-chair Prachanda and some topmost leaders of the party including Madhav Kumar Nepal and Jhala Nath Khanal have been time and again claiming about the lack of coordination between the government and the party.
They have been accusing PM Oli of running the party and government unilaterally.
Since long they have also been demanding for a one-man one-position system to be followed by the party.
But lately, the intra-party difference within the party intensified following PM Oli’s controversial remarks accusing the foreign forces of conspiring with Nepali political forces to topple his government.
The differences widened further after the Cabinet on Thursday decided to prorogue the budget session of the Parliament all of a sudden.
The Prachanda faction has asked PM Oli to step down from both posts on the ground that he had failed to provide effective leadership to both the government and the party.
