Kathmandu, May 23 : Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has asked the Election Commission (EC) to make necessary preparations to conduct the mid-term polls on the stipulated dates.
During the meeting held with the officials of the Election Commission at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar, he asked EC officials to make preparations for holding the House of Representatives polls scheduled for November 12 and 19.
President Bidya Devi Bhandari on early Saturday announced mid-term polls after dissolving the House of Representatives of the federal parliament on the recommendation of the government.
Prime Minister’s Press Advisor Surya Thapa said, “PM Oli has instructed the EC officials to start necessary preparations to conduct the election on the announced date.”
“At the meeting, he clarified that the country has headed towards the polls because the election is inevitable,” said Thapa.
According to CPN-UML Chief Whip Bishal Bhattarai, Prime Minister Oli held the meeting with the Chief Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya and other officials of the EC.
He also asked the EC officials to conduct the mid-term elections in a fair and impartial manner, Bhattarai added.
