Kathmandu, Sept. 4: People willing to come to the Kathmandu Valley during the time of prohibition order cannot make their entry into the valley just by showing negative PCR test reports, Kathmandu District Administration Office said on Thursday.
“Some confusion has arisen among the public after the DAOs of the Kathmandu Valley on Wednesday evening issued a 29-point prohibition order that they can now come to the valley carrying negative PCR reports,” Tulsi Ram Poudel, information officer and Assistant CDO of Kathmandu, said.
Upon the consent of the Ministry of Home Affairs, a meeting of the three DAOs of the valley on Wednesday extended the prohibitory order for a week in the valley.
“Apart from negative report of the PCR test, individuals also need to have recommendation letter issued from the concerned District Administration Office stating the reason for entering the valley,” Poudel said.
Purpose of visiting the valley must be disclosed in the recommendation letter along with negative PCR report before entering the valley, he said.
Poudel said the government employees having jobs of different natures, and individuals who have to come to the valley citing their personal urgencies like treatment in serious health problems, taking care of patients admitted in the valley’s hospitals, attending funeral procession, and some wedding ceremonies to be held by adopting health protocols, can come to the valley.
However, the negative PCR report is not made compulsory for the drivers and helpers of some of the essential service providing sectors like carrying goods from India and China, and other routes as their personal records are maintained by the customs points as prescribed by the guideline of the Ministry of Health , Poudel said.
Meanwhile, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ghanashyam Shrestha at the Metropolitan Police Circle, Thankot, said that the Thankot check post has not felt much pressure of the traffic on Thursday after the DAO of Kathmandu allowed the entry of people on the basis of having negative PCR reports.
In the next few days, traffic pressure may increase on the highway seeking entry into the valley, DSP Shrestha said.
