Kathmandu, Nov. 22: Nepali Congress senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel on Friday urged President Bidya Devi Bhandari to do not authenticate the proposed Constitutional Council related ordinance.
The government was preparing to amend the Constitutional Council Act through ordinance with new provision of no need opposition party leader in the Council meeting.
Speaking at annual general convention of the Democratic Lawyers Association, Paudel said the proposed ordinance was agti-democratic and anti-constitutional as well.
He warned if such ordinance implemented no one constitutional body office-bearers will be unanimous.
“I would urge the Preisdent to do not authenticate the undemocratic ordinance as the President is elected under the present constitution,” he said.
Paudel said that present provisions on appointing constitutional bodies office-bearears has special importance.
He accused Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli of brining ordinance with intention of control the constitutional bodies by the Executive.
