Kathmandu, Sept. 17: The government has been conducting vaccination campaign against COVID-19 on a priority basis, and over 17 per cent Nepali people have been fully vaccinated as of Thursday.
As vaccine is the only way to control the COVID-19 pandemic, the government has planned to inoculate 78 per cent of the population.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), 6,057,192 people (19.9 per cent) have taken their first dose of the vaccine and 5,473,151 people (17.52 per cent) have been fully vaccinated so far.
The government has planned to inoculate 33 per cent of population by mid-October.

The people were vaccinated with the AstraZeneca vaccine (manufactured in India, Japan, and Europe), Vero Cell, developed by China’s Sinopharm, or Johnson & Johnson vaccine of the United States of America. As per the update of the MoHP, in total, 110,899 people were vaccinated in the last 24 hours.

Total fatalities cross 11,000
The MoHP on Thursday confirmed 1,511 new cases of COVID-19, of which 1,165 were detected through PCR tests and 346 through antigen tests.
The nationwide COVID-19 tally through PCR method reached 781,989 and that through antigen reached 88,187.
Of the total 15,179 tests conducted in the last 24 hours, 11,208 were Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) while 3,971 were antigen tests, informed the MoHP.

According to the MoHP, Kathmandu Valley recorded 430 new infections over that period. Of these, 293 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 98 in Lalitpur and 39 in Bhaktapur.
According to the MoHP data, 10 districts, including Morang, Jhapa, Sunsari, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Makawanpur, Kavrepalanchowk, Kaski and Rupandehi have more than 500 active cases each and 20 other districts have more than 200 active cases each.

The active caseload reached 25,772 on Thursday. Of the active cases, 1,550 patients are admitted to various health facilities while the remaining 24,222 are in home isolation.
As per the latest update, 407 COVID-19 patients are admitted to the Intensive Care Units (ICUs) while 128 are under treatment with ventilator support throughout the nation.
Meanwhile, 1,689 COVID-19 patients recovered from the infection during that period. Nepal has now recorded 745,215 cases of recovery.

The country also reported 11 deaths related to the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 11,002. The recovery rate of COVID-19 has reached 95.3 per cent, with active case standing at 3.30 per cent and death rate at 1.4 per cent as of today.
