Chitwan, Jan. 31: Prime Minister and Chairman of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) KP Sharma Oli said that some party colleagues were unnerved to see the development works being carried out by the government.
Addressing a gathering at Bharatpur in Chitwan, Prime Minister Oli said that the government had intensified development works in line with people’s aspiration.
“We have been extending roads and building city halls. But still some leaders don’t notice this development,” he said.
Stating that a wave of progress had spread across the country, Prime Minister Oli said, “Those who cannot tolerate development are protesting against the government. While you keep protesting, we will continue building the nation and making it prosperous.”
He asked why the elected parliamentarians could not support the development works carried out in Chitwan.
Prime Minister Oli also questioned why NCP chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ could not say that Lord Ram was born in Ayodhyapuri, in Madi. “It is depressing to see the lawmaker who won from Chitwan not support this cause,” he added.
“They are alarmed by the pace of development. But we are committed to building a temple of Lord Ram here at any cost. The foundation stone will be laid in a grand manner on the next Ram Nawami,” he said.
After that, Chitwan’s Ayodhyapuri will be a tourist destination for Hindus and archaeologists from across the world, he added.
Prime Minister Oli further informed, “A signature bridge is being built on the Narayani River and tourists will visit this place to see the attractive bridge.” He urged all to be patient as the development infrastructures were under construction.
In another context, Oli claimed that the departure of a few party members would not affect the NCP and that the party under his leadership was the official one.
Also speaking at the event, Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’ termed the chairman of split faction Prachanda an opportunist leader and said that he was still likely to become the Prime Minister if he returned to the party.
Without mentioning Prachanda’s name, Thapa stated, “I want to call upon all the opportunists of this district to take part in the upcoming midterm election, as it will provide an opportunity to become the Prime Minister.”
Badal labelled Prachanda’s warning to oust Prime Minister Oli by convening a meeting of the House of Representatives a regressive gripe.
“The parliament was dissolved to thwart reactionary conspiracies,” he said.
Similarly, Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Basanta Kumar Nembang said that the government had been constructing many big projects in Chitwan. “A big ring-road is being constructed in Bharatpur Metropolitan City and there is a plan to build a road connecting Thori to China.”
The work on the Postal Highway has been progressing rapidly since the formation of this government, said Minister Nembang, adding that it had been constructing 18 bridges in Chitwan.
“If we look at the pace of development in the country, you can see that the government has been constructing one bridge a day,” he added.
He further informed that 10 architectural bridges would be built across the county. There could be no other proof of development than this, he added.
