Rupandehi, Aug 12 : A new government is going to be formed in Lumbini Province today.
The alliance of parties comprising Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Centre), Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) and Rastriya Janamorcha is going to stake its claim before Province Chief for the same.
Province Chief Amik Sherchan has determined 3:00 pm today as the deadline to stake their claim for the formation of the new government. Chief Whip of the NC Parliamentary Party, Phakharuddhin Khan, said that the alliance would stake its claim for the formation of the new government within the deadline.
The alliance is presenting Kul Prasad KC, CPN (Maoist Centre) Parliamentary Party leader, to the post of the Chief Minister.
It is said that the CPN (UML), however, is not staking its claim for the government. The Lumbini Province Assembly has 80 members.
Forty-one members are needed for the majority. There are 19 members of the Nepali Congress, 18 of CPN (Maoist Centre), three of JSP and one of Janamorcha in the Province Assembly.
