New building of Trishuli Hospital opens

Kathmandu, Dec. 8: The Government of South Korea has officially handed over the newly constructed building of the Trishuli Hospital, Nuwakot to the Ministry of Health and Population of Nepal.
The Korean government handed over the 50-bed hospital after it was inaugurated by the Minister for Health and Population Birodh Khatiwada in the presence of members of the federal parliament and other government officials on Tuesday.

The hospital had been damaged by the 2015 Barpak earthquake and was reconstructed under South Korea’s ‘Post-Disaster Health Services Recovery Programme in Nuwakot District’ project worth US$ 8.4 million.
This project was implemented by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). Kathmandu. On the occasion, Minister Khatiwada appreciated the kind gesture from the Korean government.
“This support is instrumental in ensuring that the hospital continues to operate without disruption and it shows the incredible goodwill present between our two countries,” he said.

During the handover event, Ambassador of South Korea to Nepal Park Chong-suk hoped that this assistance would help provide effective and efficient health services to the people of Nepal and expressed commitment to assist Nepal in fighting the pandemic.

According to a press release issued by KOICA, South Korea has been helping Nepal combat the outbreak of the coronavirus by providing protection equipment, oxygen cylinders and Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test kits.
The Government of South Korea has been supporting Nepal through KOICA in various areas of health, education, IT and rural development since 1991.
