Taplejung, Oct. 8: A border outpost (BOP) of the Armed Police Force, Nepal, was set up at Olangchunggola, a village in the northern border of Taplejung district, on Wednesday.
The BOP was established at Mauwatar in Faktanglung Rural Municipality Ward No. 7 of the district.
Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Kumar Bhattarai this morning inaugurated the BOP at Olangchunggola, which borders Tibet, an autonomous region of China.
Home Secretary Maheshwar Neupane, Inspector General of Nepal Police Shailesh Thapa, Armed Police Inspector General Shailendra Khanal and Chief Investigation Director Ganesh Adhikari were present on the occasion.
The BOP was set up some 21 kilometres inside the Nepali territory at Olangchunggola from Tiptala Bhanjyang on the border between Nepal and Tibet.
According to Rabindra Shrestha, Deputy Superintendent of Armed Police, and Company Commander of Armed Police Force No. 1 Company, Kanchanjunga Headquarters, a team of 50 forces will be stationed in the BOP.
For the time being, there will be 20 forces in the BOP led by Armed Police Inspector Yubaraj Khadka, said DSP Shrestha.
