By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, Sept. 26: The benchmark of the stock market index, NEPSE, has decreased by double digits on Sunday, the first trading day of the week.
The NEPSE index declined by 61.27 points (2.17 per cent) to close at 2,758.48 points today.
The sensitive index which measures the performance of group ‘A’ companies declined by 10.70 points (2.02 per cent) to close at 519.36 points.
The sub-indices of all groups, except mutual funds, decreased sharply.
Sub-index of life insurance group saw the highest fall of 371.31 points followed by non-life insurance and finance group whose indices decreased by 356.76 points and 156.17 points respectively.
Similarly, development bank, hotel and tourism, hydropower and trading groups’ sub-indices decreased by 130.64 points, 88.97 points, 135.03 points and 98.74 points respectively.
Sub-index of manufacturing and processing group decreased by 116.75 points, others by 44.13 points, banking by 18.29 points, microfinance by 120.99 points and investment by 3.23 points in today’s transaction.
However, the sub-index of mutual funds posted a marginal growth of 0.03 points and closed at 15.24 points.
A total of 14,494,260 shares worth Rs. 6.5 billion of 233 companies were sold in 73,693 transactions today.
The share price of ICFC Finance recorded the highest fall by 8.98 per cent, followed by Ghalemdi Hydro by 7.96 per cent and Multipurpose Finance Company by 7.66 per cent.
However, the share prices of Manakamana Smart Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha posted the highest growth by 10 per cent, followed by Mailung Khola Jal Vidhyut Company by 6.03 per cent and Citizen Mutual Fund-1 by 3.4 per cent.
