Kathmandu, Nov. 5: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Pampha Bhusal on Friday said that Nepal Sambat is the original culture of entire Nepali people despite being originated from the Newari community.

Stating that Shankhadhar Sakhwa launched movement based on justice, equality and fraternity, the Minister reminded that the erstwhile government led by Chairperson of the CPN (Maoist Centre) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ decided to observe the new year celebrated by the Newari community in particular as a national festival. She was addressing an event orgaised here by the Godabari Municipality-14 to exchange greetings on the occasion of Nepal Sambat 1142.

Minister Bhusal cautioned against efforts of regressive elements to seize people's rights and appealed to all to continuously side with advancements.

In another context, she stressed the need for continuous struggles to implement federalism along with identity while fighting the political parties having thoughts that federalism splits the country.

On the occasion, the municipality Mayor Gajendra Maharjan stressed the need for all people to come together to implement the observation of Nepal Sambat as a national festival.
