Nepal records 4,364 new cases of COVID-19, highest in a single day, tally hits 98,617

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Oct. 8: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Thursday confirmed 4,364 new cases of COVID-19. This is the highest single-day tally recorded across the nation until now. 

In 18,473 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, as many as 4,364 persons were found to be infected with the novel coronavirus, informed Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson of the ministry in the daily press briefing today.

Meanwhile, some 2,675 COVID-19 patients staying at home isolation or receiving treatment at various institutional isolations across the nation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. The recovery rate now stands at 72.3 per cent.

Currently, there are 26,684 active cases of COVID-19 of which, 11,717 patients are in institutional isolation and 14,967 are in home isolation. Some 4,460 persons, mostly those who had returned from abroad, are placed in quarantine.

Of the active patients, 235 are admitted to the ICU and 42 are receiving treatment with the ventilator facility.

With this, the national COVID-19 tally has reached 98,617 including 71,343 cases of recovery and  590 death cases.
