Biratnagar, Dec 9 (RSS):
Nepali Congress (NC)'s General-Secretary Dr Shashank Koirala has said that NC's next national convention would be postponed for a year owing to some internal reasons.
Talking to media persons briefly at the airport in Biratnagar, Morang today, leader Koirala admitted that various groups had supported the NC in the recently held by-election.
According to him, the results of the recently held by-election had reflected the situation that NC was yet to be strong.
Stating that NC was actively and positively playing the role of opposition in the government, Koirala clarified that NC wanted to move ahead being on board with the incumbent government.
Arguing that the conflict of interest would not benefit anyone, he asserted that NC had adopted the path of consensus. He also pressed for the need for unity among all political parties in the country to safeguard constitution and federalism.
The leader also made it clear that instead of batting for secularism, he subscribes the ideology that the religion should be free.
He also slammed that the incumbent government could not deliver in keeping with the two-thirds of mandate it got.
