Kathmandu, Oct 23: Nepal Communist Party (NCP) leader Subas Nembang said on Wednesday that the politicians should have clear ideological orientation, high social ideals and honesty.
Addressing a programme organised by the Chandra Bahadur Gurung Memorial Foundation commemorating Gurung's fourth memorial assembly, Nembang said that the late Gurung assisted in formulating the constitution even by putting his note of dissent.
Gurung was the general secretary of the then Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) and Constituent Assembly member from that party which had differing views on certain provisions of the constitution.
Nembang, who was the Chair of the then Constituent Assembly, said that Gurung played a role in creating an environment of political stability in the country helping the constitution writing process by respecting the majority views in the Constituent Assembly despite his party's reservations.
RPP chairman Kamal Thapa said that criminalization was growing in the politics at present.
Similarly, Nepali Congress leader Gopal Man Shrestha said the late Gurung's political sincerity and commitment should be respected.
