Kathmandu, Aug. 15: A six-member taskforce has been formed to settle the protracted intra-party dispute in the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP).
A meeting of the two party chairmen, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, on Friday formed the taskforce to narrow down the differences the senior most leaders of the party have on a number of issues.
The meeting formed a panel including party’s general secretary Bishnu Poudel, Janardan Sharma, Shankar Pokharel, Bhim Rawal, Surendra Pandey and Pampha Bhusal, assigning it to recommend suggestions to end the intra-party differences surfaced in the party.
The taskforce comprises two confidants each of PM Oli, Prachanda and senior leader and former prime minister Madhav Kumar Nepal.
Personal Secretariat of the chairmen informed that the discussions between the two chairmen ended on a positive note.
The meeting, which kicked off at 11:15 in the morning, lasted for two hours, informed Bishnu Sapkota, press advisor to chairman Prachanda.
Chairman Prachanda had reached the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar to meet PM Oli, he added.
Sapkota said the taskforce would recommend suggestions to sort out the differences surfaced among the top leaders of the party on a number of issues.
It is expected that the taskforce will be instrumental to end the intraparty feud.
The situation of the two chairmen not sitting for talks has ended on Thursday, after they sat for a talk after an interval of nine days.
The two chairmen, who had not held talks since August 4, initiated the talks in the presence of other senior leaders and agreed to continue the talks to resolve the intra-party disputes.
The meeting was held a day after PM Oli in a television interview had said that the ongoing intra-party feud would be settled down within five days.
