Kathmandu, Aug. 26: The two chairmen of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) have approved the report presented by the taskforce, formed by the party top brass to settle the intra-party rift.
A one-on-one meeting of the two party chairmen, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, on Tuesday approved the report, which is considered as a roadmap to settle the outstanding problems that have surfaced in the party.
The taskforce formed to resolve the intra-party feud had submitted the report on Saturday, August 22, to the two chairmen.Three days after the submission of the report, the chairmen had sat for talks today.
Prime Minister’s Press Advisor Surya Thapa said during the meeting the chairmen agreed to call the party Secretariat meeting at 11:00 am on Saturday.
“The report submitted by the taskforce will be the agenda of the Secretariat meeting,” said Thapa.
The meeting today, which kicked off at 10:00 in the morning, lasted for two hours, he added.
Ram Sharan Bajgain, the PM’s media expert, said, “The chairmen have agreed to call the party Secretariat meeting on August 29 to hold further discussions on the report.”
The chairmen also agreed to call a Standing Committee meeting after concluding the Secretariat meeting.
Once the party Secretariat will approve the report, it will be presented at the Standing Committee meeting for further discussions.

The taskforce had submitted a 16-point report to the two chairmen. The taskforce, through the report, has proposed PM Oli to stay as Prime Minister for full term of the House of Representatives and co-chairman Prachanda to be executive chairman till the unity General Convention of the party.
The six-member taskforce led by party General Secretary Bishnu Poudel was formed on August 14 after the disputes among the top brass continued to pester the party.
The taskforce gave final shape to the report and submitted it to the two chairmen within eight days of its formation.
Amid the deepening rift in the party, the taskforce has proposed a mid-way to keep the party unity intact.
The taskforce has unanimously recommended political reform in the party and advocated for a long-term solution rather than finding a temporary solution to the recurrent problem.
The report is mainly focused on party unity, intuitional mobilisation of the party, rights and limitations of the two chairmen, completion of remaining tasks of party unification process, conduction of unity general convention and making the government’s performance more effective.
