Kathmandu, Dec. 6: Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that the NC would not opt for a show of strength by bringing many people to its 14th general convention as there is still the risk of coronavirus pandemic in the country.
Talking to media persons covering the 'Nepali Congress beat' at the official residence of the Prime Minister at Baluwatar today, he shared that no crowd creating problem to the people would be gathered in the inaugural session of the general convention.
The 14th general convention of the NC is scheduled from December 10-12 in Kathmandu. Saying he would file his candidacy to the post of President once again as per the party’s statute, President Deuba urged all the media persons for support.
It would do good to the party and government themselves when he is re-elected party president in the context he now leads the coalition government, he argued.
This is his last opportunity to become party president as the party statute bars him from standing for the party president in the next general convention, he reminded.
In a different context, the PM said that the electoral alliance among the ruling coalition partners would be only for the elections to the member of the National Assembly and discussions are yet to take place on continuing the electoral alliance for other elections.
