Kathmandu, Sept. 4: Nepali Congress COVID-19 Monitoring Committee on Thursday demanded with the government to immediately make public its short and long-term plans to control the COVID-19, manage proper treatment of the patients and minimise its effect on the economic and social life.
The Committee in a press note said that the government was not serious about the party’s 13-point attention letter submitted to it a few days ago on prevention, control and treatment of COVID-19 and management of the economic and social crisis invited by it.
“The government has not prepared any plan that ensures people that they are safe. We condemn the government’s this inactiveness and its superficial activities,” read the press note.
The press note said the government was till date not serious about making preparedness for the prevention and treatment of the COVID-19.
Stating that the prohibition was issued again in the capital and other parts of the country, the NC said implementation of the prohibition order and their lifting were not done on the basis of any study, and it was an immature decision of the government.
Accusing the government of increasing dependency on lockdown and prohibition order, the NC said it was due to lack of preparedness on the part of the government.
The NC COVID-19 Monitoring Committee said that the economic and social crises were increasing due to continuity of prohibition order while infection rate was on the constant rise.
“In some places, the coronavirus infection was spreading in the community level.
The government was trying to run away from its main responsibility of the COVID-19 prevention and treatment by passing the buck to the local administration to impose and lift the prohibition,” read the press note.
