Kathmandu, July 29: The Nepali Congress on Wednesday concluded that its 14th general convention related calendar would be amended by looking at the COVID-19 situation in the country.
A meeting of the sitting and former office bearers of the party held on Wednesday at the Budhanilkantha-based residence of party president and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba decided this, said NC spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma after the meeting.
The party would discuss with its district leaders about the COVID-19 situation. However, the meeting did not take any decision regarding the postponement of the general convention date.
The meeting will continue also on Thursday.
Sharma said the meeting would reach a conclusion regarding the calendar amendment by taking briefings from lower level leaders.
The NC has scheduled its 14th general convention from September 1. However, it has already put off its ward level general convention slated for July 27.
Meanwhile, NC president Deuba instructed the Active Membership Probe Committee to bring forth its report giving it a finishing touch within 24 hours.
The Ramesh Lekhak-led Committee had submitted its report to party President Deuba on Tuesday even though one member of the Committee wrote a note of dissent on it.
After the meeting, Sharma said the meeting discussed the report.
“Lastly, the Committee should come forward settling the dispute noticed in the report,” Sharma quoted party president Deuba.
