Kathmandu, June 17: Nepali Congress submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Tuesday, urging him to properly handle the fight against COVID-19.
In Kathmandu, the party submitted a memo to PM Oli reaching at his official residence in Baluwatar while its State Committees submitted the memos through Chief Ministers, District Committees through Chief District Officers and its external committees through Nepali Embassies in the respective countries.
A delegation led by NC parliamentary party chief whip Bal Krishna Khand reached Baluwatar to submit the memo drawing the government attention to the difficult situation created by COVID-19.
The party accused the government of involving in corruption and acting irresponsibly while COVID-19 cases and deaths were on rise.
NC spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma informed that the memo was submitted to Prime Minister Oli as per the party directives.
The memo read the government had failed to tackle COVID-19 pandemic.
The delegation urged the Prime Minister Oli to be serious about tackling COVID-19 suggesting expansion of tests, stoppage of RDTs, investigation into irregularities in the purchase of health materials, efficient management of quarantines and security of the health workers.
After the meeting with PM Oli, NC lawmaker and a member of delegation Bhimsen Das Pradhan informed that the party also raised questions about the prices of medical goods purchased by the Nepali Army.
Receiving the memo, Prime Minister Oli said the suggestions on COVID-19 pandemic control were positive.
He also assured implementation of the suggestions, informed Pradhan.
