Kathmandu, Dec. 12: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) and National Information Society Agency (NIA) of South Korea.
Vice chancellor of NAST Dr. Sunil Babu Shrestha and Vice President of NIA digitally signed the MoU on Friday.
NAST is collaborating with NIA for the establishment of Nepal-Korea Information Access Centre and cooperation in the field of Information Communication Technology (ICT).
The centre will be established at the under-construction technology building on the NAST premises.
The NIA will provide assistance to develop facilities inside the building, said Dr. Rabindra Dhakal, chief of faculty of technology of NAST.
The technology building is being constructed at the cost of Rs. 260 million and 90 per cent of its construction work has completed.
The building will have facilities of ICT classroom with a seminar hall, a lab and general public will have easy access to get information about technology, he said.
“We have developed mobile-bus with ICT laboratory which can be mobilised in all seven provinces. It makes easy to get information about ICT,” he said.
The NIA will complete this project in March, 2021 and open for public to provide information.
The Information Access Centre that will have a mobile-bus with ICT laboratory will help reduce the digital divide in the county, said Dhakal.
