By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Nov. 16: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Tuesday confirmed 377 new cases of COVID-19. Of them, 339 were detected through Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests, and 38 were detected through antigen tests.
The nationwide COVID-19 tally through the RT-PCR method has reached 817,672 and that through antigen tests reached 95,174.
Of the total 9,149 tests conducted in the last 24 hours, 6,505 were Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) while 2,644 were antigen tests, informed the MoHP.
According to the MoHP, the Kathmandu Valley recorded 145 new infections over the same period. Of these, 101 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 11 in Bhaktapur, and 33 in Lalitpur. In the past 24 hours, 50 new infections were recorded in Province 1, three in Province 2, 234 in Bagmati Province, 18 in Gandaki Province, 25 in Lumbini Province, and 9 in Sudurpaschim Province. Karnali Province did not report new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday.
As per the MoHP's data, only Kathmandu and Lalitpur districts have more than 500 active cases and 10 other districts have more than 200 active cases each. Moreover, Manang, Dolpa, and Humla are the districts with zero active cases.
Similarly, the COVID-19 active caseload has reached 7,476 on Tuesday. Of the active cases, 492 patients are admitted to various health facilities while the remaining 6,984 are in home isolation.
As per the latest update, 219 COVID-19 patients are admitted to the Intensive Care Units (ICUs) while 59 are under treatment with ventilator support throughout the nation.
Meanwhile, 170 COVID-19 patients recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. Nepal has now recorded 798,714 cases of recovery.
The nation also reported four COVID-19 related deaths on Tuesday, taking the death toll to 11,482. The recovery rate of the novel coronavirus has reached 97.7 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.
