Kathmandu, Dec. 31: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has urged all to take adequate precautionary measures while performing activities like burning fires, turning on heaters and using geysers to keep the body or room warm to stay away from suffocation and other unpleasant incidents.
Issuing a public notice on Thursday, it appealed to all concerned to take the precautionary measures while keeping themselves warm.
The MoHP suggests burning fire, turning on a heater or a geyser in a well-ventilated room only, as well as avoiding coal fires as much as possible.
In its notice, it has asked not to place highly inflammable materials such as paper or cloth near a fire or a heater. It has suggested extinguishing fire completely after its use.
When using a heater for longer duration, turn off the heater intermittently and turn off the heater before going to bed, suggests the MoHP.
The MoHP also asked the concerned to connect the main geyser machine on an open space, preferably outside the bathroom, to not turn on the geyser and to not stay within the bathroom for a long period.
