Kathmandu, Jan. 22: Minister for Home Affairs Bal Krishna Khand and Minister for Education, Science and Technology Devendra Paudel Friday held a discussion regarding the higher fees charged by the medical colleges to the MBBS students.
During the meeting held at the Education Ministry, Minister Paudel asked Minister Khand to take action against the medical colleges that were charging higher fees than the fees fixed by the Medical Education Commission.

"The post of minister is secondary. I am on the side of the students," said Minister Paudel in the meeting.
Stating that the Medical Education Act of 2075 BS has given the right to take action against the college for cheating students, he informed that evidences that the students were asked to pay more fees had already been sent to the Home Ministry.

Last week, a joint meeting of the medical college operators, students and the government chaired by Education Minister Paudel had decided not to charge more than the fees prescribed by the commission. But college operators have not yet abided by the agreement.

At the meeting, Home Minister Khand said the problem was the state’s problem, not only of the Education Ministry, and assured that the Home Ministry would take action against the wrong doers.
Student leaders were also present in the meeting.

Earlier, Education Minister Paudel met with Dr. Govinda KC.
During the meeting, they had talked about the existing problems of the medical field, according to Minister Paudel.
