By Our Correspondent, Palpa, Dec. 1: Chief of the Army Staff (CoAS) General Prabhu Ram Sharma Wednesday inaugurated a newly established military museum in Palpa.
The museum was constructed by Gorakhadal Battalion inside the historic Palpa Palace in the financial support of the Lumbini Province government, Municipality Office, Nepali Army, and the locals. It was informed that it cost Rs. 12.5 million to complete the construction of the museum.
The museum consists of historic instruments and materials used in the war with British force at Jitgadhi Fort and military weapons used during the wartime, according to Janak Kumar Basnet, Battalion Head of Gorakhdal Battalion.
Five separate rooms have been established inside the museum, depicting bravery shown by Nepali Army, and the military logistics like cannons and artilleries.
Battalion Head Basnet believed that the museum would be an effective research centre for both interested researchers and students from home and abroad.
Chief District Officer Janardan Panta said that the museum would also help promote internal and international tourism in the district.
Following the inspection and inauguration ceremony, CoAS Sharma said that the Army had engaged in establishing a mutual citizen-military relationship.
