Janakpur, Jan. 25: Preparations for the election of the National Assembly (NA) has completed in Madhes Province. The voting for election of NA member is being held in Janakpurdham, capital of Madhes Province, on Wednesday.
Krishna Raut, information officer at Madhes Province Election Office, Janakpurdham, said that the ballot paper for voting had already been published and the training for the officials to be deployed at the voting centre has also completed.
“Each booth will have one voting officer, one assistant voting officer, four assistants and two office helps,” said Raut, adding that ballot papers of two colours- red and green, would be used on the basis of four types of clusters.
“The provincial assembly members will be using green coloured ballot paper while local level representatives will be using red coloured ballot paper,” said Raut.
He also added that only those who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 would be allowed to cast votes and all the public health protocols would be enforced in the voting centre. “If any voter is found to be COVID-19 positive, then we will manage a separate voting facility for him or her,” said Raut.
A total of five candidates from the ruling alliance and opposition parties have registered their candidacies for the two positions of NA members vacant in Madhes Province.
Urmila Aryal of NCP (Maoist Centre), Rupa Kumari Yadav of Loktantrik Samajwadi Party and Bina Devi Shah of CPN-UML has registered their candidacies for women’s quota.
Similarly, Mohammad Khalid Siddhiqui of Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal, and Usman Ansari of CPN-UML are also on the run for NA membership.
The election is being held in the Mahendra Narayan Nidhi building located in Janakpurdham Sub Metropolitan City-4 on coming Wednesday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Meanwhile, according to our Hetauda Correspondent, preparations for the NA election have kicked off in Bagmati province. The voting for two vacant positions in the upper house of the Federal Parliament is taking place in Hetauda.
Lumbanath Pokharel, chief of Election Commission Bagmati Province Office, said that the voting would be held in the Assembly Hall inside the Hetauda Industrial Area.
A team led by the election officer inspected the voting centre on Monday, he said, adding that two voting booths would be set up for the election. A total of six candidates from four parties have registered their candidacies for the election in Bagmati Province.
