Tanahun, Nov. 24: Locals residing at Bhanu Municipality-2 in Tanahun district heaved deep sigh of relief after another female leopard trapped in a human-made snare.
Locals succeeded to trap the man-eater at Majuwa Okhle Community Forest. The trap looked like natural thing with a goat inside it.
A wooden-trap was made by 77- year old Haribhakta Dhakal, who has been successful in trapping three leopards through his snares.
The leopard was taken under control under the initiative of Division Forest Office, Tanahun. Division Forest Office chief Kedar Baral confirmed about the trapping of the fourth leopard.
In the last one-and-a-half years, six children were killed in leopard attacks and six others were injured in Bhanu Municipality.
The trapped leopard was later released at Manimukunda Park in Butwal. Locals in Bhanu Municipality were in terror after the leopard started killing children.
Ward numbers 1-4 were facing leopard menace.
Dhakal prepared the traditional trap to catch the leopards after no leopard was trapped in iron cage designed by Division Forest Office, Baburam Upreti, information officer at the Division Forest Office said.
Dhakal had first prepared his wooden trap in 1967 after his two children and a milking buffalo were killed by leopards in the village.
