Nepalgunj, Dec. 16: Youths staged a demonstration at the main gate of Nepalgunj airport, known as the country's second-largest airport after Kathmandu, demanding improvement saying that the airport could be at risk of a major accident caused by wild animals at any time.
A group of youths led by the Bageshwori Good Governance Club demonstrated at the main gate of the airport at Rajhan carrying various placards on Tuesday. They also handed over a memorandum to the head of the Civil Aviation Office Nepalgunj.

Namaskar Shah, executive director of the club, said a memorandum was submitted demanding cleaning of bushes and trunks within a month as the planes collided with animals such as boar and fox many times.
He also demanded that the parking lot inside the airport should be organised, congestion at the airport should be controlled and the information provided by the office to the information officer should be made available to the general public on a regular basis.

It is said that wild animals have been entering the airport from the forest area from time to time due to bushes and bushes as the fence netting around the airport has been smashed.
Receiving the memorandum, Chief of the Aviation Office, Nepalgunj, Subash Jha said that he has taken a serious initiative to clear the bushes and trunks around the runway. He also expressed his commitment to solving this problem as soon as possible, the Club informed.

The youths have warned that if the airport is not organized within a month, there will be agitation again.
Hemraj Bhatta, who was participating in the demonstration, said that the movement would be forced to stage a phased agitation if immediate action was not taken as there was a risk of a plane hitting the wild animals and crashing due to negligence of the management.

“Every now and then, planes collide with animals. There is an animal shelter near the runway of the airport, but the civil aviation office does not clear the bushes.
Incidents are recurring, but it will not be tolerated now,” said another youth activist, Rajendra Shrestha.
In the last two months alone, animals have collided with the plane three times.

Three boars collided with a Sita Air flight bound for Simkot, Humla from Nepalgunj, while a fox collided with a Buddha Air flight.
