Kathmandu, Mar. 7: Minister for Communication and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki has said that the local elections scheduled for May 13, 2022 would be held on that date at any cost.
"The government has announced local elections for May 13 by analysing various technical and practical matters," Minister Karki, who is also the government spokesperson, said while paying an inspection visit to Gorkhapatra Corporation (GC) on Sunday.
Journalists and media houses also have their role to create environment for holding the election on the fixed date, he said.
There is no need to cast any doubt on the government's commitment to hold both the local and the Federal Parliament elections, Minister Karki said.
Asked about probability of going for an early election of the Federal Parliament when the House of Representatives is continuously obstructed, Minister Karki, said 2079 BS would be the year of election, and the incumbent government would conduct three-tier elections in the coming year of 2079.
