Pokhara, June 20: A large hearted man Rajesh Gurung has chartered a helicopter at his own expense and delivered relief items in Taal of Nasa Rural Municipality of Manang District.
Gurung delivered relief items including rice, beans, oil, and biscuits at the flood-hit area where none of the representatives have reached yet.
The human settlement of Taal was flooded on June 15 where 65 houses were completely submerged. About 300 people have been displaced. The floods have washed away all the food and livestock in the houses.
Villagers have been pleased with Gurung for his support at a time when they did not get much help from the government.
Manirasi Gurung, local of the village, said except support from Rajesh Gurung, they got only five tents from former parliamentarian Palden Chopang Gurung.
None of the elected representatives, Chinta Ghale and Rajiv Gurung, have arrived here to help the victims, villagers complained.
Manirasi informed that there was no loss of life due to the floods. "Before the floods came, we took everyone to the hill but all the belongings and houses were washed away by the floods,” she said.
She, further, said that some help came from Marsyangardi Ward No. 4 and Chame, Lamjung. Villagers demanded to rescue people with disabilities, the elderly and the injured have become homeless now.
None of the elected representatives, Chinta Ghale and Rajiv Gurung, have arrived here to help the victims, villagers complained.
Dhan Bahadur Tamang, chief of Dharapani Health Post of Taal, said that he feeds 100 people daily. The building of the health post is safe from flood. Tamang said that there is a shortage of food, clothes and other items now and urged to take immediate measures for the arrangement of the same.
