Kavre, Feb. 16 : The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA) has identified four significant sites from Kavre's four municipalities to promote as major tourism destinations while also allocating funds for infrastructure development of the said sites.
The Ministry has picked 200 new locations to be featured in the latest list of tourist destinations across the country, with the aim to develop the physical infrastructure of these destinations.
The Ministry of Tourism has allocated Rs. 6.08 billion for the development and promotion of these 200 tourist destinations. The development of these locations will be done in partnership with the concerned local levels.
Among the new destinations, four locations of Kavre have been included in the promotional list issued by the government. One of the most popular destinations of late, which came to new-found prominence during the pandemic lockdown is Tindhare Waterfall of Rosi Rural Municipality.
Being shortlisted in the list of the government's 200 destinations means that necessary infrastructures, such as accessible route, will be built within the pristine and picturesque spot.
Along with this, three other places, namely, Bhimsensthan-Gadhidanda-Sangaseti tourism development of Bhumlu Rural Municipality, construction of stairs en-route Chandeshwori of Banepa Municipality, and new hiking path from Sangaseti-Khadakhebi war tourism trail of Chaurideurali Rural Municipality will be carried out.
The Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation has allocated over Rs. 139.2 million for the promotion of these destinations in Kavre, of which 70 per cent of the allocated budget will be funded by Nepal government and the rest 30 per cent by the respective local levels.
Under this project, the Bhimsensthan-Gadhidanga-Sangaseti tourism infrastructure development has received Rs. 46.2 million, the Tindhare Falls protection and infrastructure has received Rs. 50 million, Chandeswari steps construction in Banepa has received Rs. 33 million while Rs. 10 million has been allocated for the Sangaseti-Khadakhebi war tourism trail in Chaurideurali Rural Municipality.
While war tourism trail is estimated to complete within one year, each of the other three projects has a preliminary timeline of three years.
