Surkhet, Nov. 1: Chief Minister of Karnali province, Mahendra Bahadur Shahi, has tendered his resignation from the post.
Organising a press conference today, Chief Minister Mahendra Bahadur resigned from the post as per the understanding made earlier with leader of Nepali Congress Karnali Province Assembly, Jeevan Bahadur Shahi.
On the occasion, he said that 36 acts, six ordinance, 10 regulations, 36 working procedures and 10 guidelines were formulated in Karnali province.
A plan of Karnali and Bheri Corridor National Transmission Line was forwarded with coordination of federal government during his term, he added.
Chief Minister Mahendra Bahadur on April 16, 2021, while taking vote of confidence, had made an understanding to hand over power to the Nepali Congress after six months. After the resignation of CM Mahendra Bahadur, the way has now opened to Jeevan Bahadur Shahi to become the Chief Minister.
Jeevan Bahadur said that he would be the Chief Minister as per the understanding. He said, "CM Mahendra Bahadur Shahi resigned from the post as per agreement reached between us."
