By Muna Hamal, Surkhet, Nov. 2: Parliamentary party leader of the Nepali Congress in the Karnali Provincial Assembly Jivan Bahadur Shahi has submitted a claim for the post of Chief Minister of the province.
He submitted the claim with the support and the signature of 21 lawmakers of the provincial assembly to Province Chief Govinda Prasad Kalauni.
Karnali Province Chief Kalauni had called for the lawmakers in the assembly to submit a claim for the post of Chief Minister after Mahendra Bahadur Shahi resigned from the post on Monday setting a deadline of 7 pm today.
Lawmaker Jivan Bahadur Shahi has been backed by CPN (Maoist Center) with 12 lawmakers, Nepali Congress with 6 lawmakers and 3 lawmakers of the CPN (Unified Socialist).
Meanwhile, the office of the Province Chief has stated that the oath-taking ceremony of Jivan Bahadur Shahi who claimed for the post is likely to be held this evening itself.
