By Sahadev Basnet, Jajarkot, Oct. 7: As many as six persons have been dead while one got seriously injured and the other one has gone missing after a jeep met with an accident at Junichade in Jajarkot district.
Among the dead is the Chair of Junichade Rural Municipality ward no. 11, Amar Bahadur Shahi, 50.
The ill-fated jeep with registration number Bhe 1 Ja 935 had left Khalanga, district headquarters of Jajarkot, for Junichade this morning and skidded off the road into the Majhkot stream some 500 meter below at Aulbhir, Junichade RM-1 at about 3:00 pm, according to the police.
Kishor Kumar Shrestha, Deputy Superintendent of Police and chief of Jajarkot district police office, said that six had been killed in the accident, one named Nara Bahadur Budha had been injured while another one had gone missing in the stream.
DSP Shrestha said that the jeep was still in the water, body of the ward chair was recovered while efforts were being made to recover bodies of the other five passengers.
A team of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force was deployed from the district headquarters to the accident site that lies some 20 miles away in the west.
The driver of the jeep is said to have absconded.
