Kathmandu, Sept. 1: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has extended best wishes for the good health, peace and prosperity of all Nepali sisters and brothers at home and abroad on the occasion of Kumari Indrajatra today. The annual Indra Jatra festival is marked by worshiping the Living Goddess, Kumari, Bahirav among other deities.
In a message today, the head of the state expressed the hope that the festival would further help promote social, cultural and mutual harmony among the people of diversity. She also expected that the festival would promote the use of natural resources maintaining social justice and achieving sustainable developmental goals.
In the message, President Bhandari has also urged all the revelers to mark the festival following the health protocol prescribed by the government to contain the COVID-19 pandemic.
As per the tradition, the Head of the State travels to Basantpur Durbar square to attend the celebration of annual Indra Jatra festival.
