Road Construction in Lipu Lek by India
Nepal-India boundary dispute
By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Jan 15: India has stated that it has communicated with the government of Nepal about its position on boundary issues between the two countries.
Issuing a press release in 'Response to media queries regarding recent reports and statements in Nepal on the question of India-Nepal boundary', on Saturday, the Embassy of India in Nepal viewed that the 'intergovernmental mechanisms and channels are most appropriate for communication and dialogues' to 'address mutually agreed boundary issues.'
There have been protests in Nepal against the construction of road by India encroaching Nepal's territory in Lipu Lek, Limpiyadhura and Kalapani area.
Just yesterday, the main ruling Nepali Congress had issued a protest note with regard to the construction of road by India in Lipu Lek area.
Although the embassy statement issued by its spokesperson admitted that there are outstanding boundary issues between Nepal and India, it did not mention about the construction of the road in Lipu Lek area, the north western region of Nepal, by India.
