Ranjha, Oct 4 : People working in India and who are traveling back home to Nepal for Dashain and Tihar festivals are coming in large numbers crowding the border transit at Nepalgunj.
More than 1,000 people are entering Nepal through the Jamunaha border check point on a daily basis at present, Area Police Office Jamunaha's Sub-Inspector Madhav Prasad Rijal said.
According to him, one can see hordes of Nepalis returning home from the Indian bordering town Rupaidiha since early morning.
They can be seen traveling to Nepal on horse-drawn carts, rickshaws and on foot.
More, a large number of people are returning home on direct bus service being operated from different Indian cities. The buses operated from the Indian capital, New Delhi to Nepalgunj are packed with Nepalis, Chair of the Bheri Yatayat Pvt Ltd Nepalgunj, Rajendra Giri said. Bheri Yatayat Pvt Ltd is operating the direct Delhi to Nepalgunj bus service.
He said the number of passengers is also increasing in buses operated from other cities of India to Nepal's Dang, Kapilbastu, Butwal, among other places.
Nepal Police has set up a Help Desk at the Jamunaha transit to facilitate in the travel of Nepalis returning home from India. Police in plainclothes have also been mobilized for this purpose. The police have also been counseling the Nepalis urging them to be vigilant to the possibility of their being duped or looted on the way or in hotels.
Nara Bahadur Sunar of Kupinde municipality Salyan, who came from Shimla of India, says that Nepal police personnel extended help to them at the border point.
Superintendent of Banke Police, Bir Bahadur Oli said that they have also urged the Indian Police to stop harassment to the Nepalis returning from India and looting them of money at the border in India.
