Kathmandu, Jan. 3: Prime Minister and Chairman of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) KP Sharma Oli said he was compelled to dissolve the House of Representatives and call for the fresh mandate to prevent the country from falling into a vicious cycle.
Addressing a large cadres’ conclave organised by NCP at Academy Hall, Kamaladi, PM Oli clarified that the decision to go for the fresh mandate was made to rid the nation of the ongoing constraints and challenges.
“One can go to the court. But the recommendation to dissolve the parliament was made by using the right of the prime minister. So there is no chance of the parliament being restored,” said PM Oli. “There is a similar example in Britain and it is normal for the country with a parliamentary system,” he added.
Claiming that the Prachanda-Nepal faction was only focused on power and position, PM Oli said the faction had lost its way.
The government had failed to perform in the way it wanted due to the obstacles within the party, he admitted. “For three years, the party cadres were kept disoriented and confused. We announced party unification but the unification process was not allowed to come to an end. Three years have been wasted,” he said.
Because the two nuts and bolts have already been opened, he assured that the development work would now pick up speed.
Hinting at Prachanda-Nepal faction, which has appealed to Election Commission to grant official recognition to their faction, PM Oli said, “It is not wise for the fallen fruits to say that they are still standing from the tree.”
Pledging that country’s nationalism, independence and sovereignty will be stronger in 2021, he said, “This year, the slogan of prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepalis will more towards meaningfulness. We will reach in a significant turning point.” “We are not fighting for our family members; we are fighting for the country and the people,” the PM said.
Explaining that no leader has been expelled from the party till date, Chairman PM Oli has called upon the Prachanda-Nepal faction to accept its mistake and join the main party. The agenda of Prachanda-Nepal faction is not country, people and democracy, he claimed.
“They get upset when the new map gets published and when the country moves towards development. Then how such agendas can prosper the country?” PM Oli asked.
The government was not allowed to work, nor was it allowed to publicize its achievements, he said.
He further clarified that the campaign of development and prosperity would never stop. Since the development work is progressing, results are now visible. “Now the government and the party will work in full swing without any hindrance.”
PM Oli stated that the development works will not be stopped no matter how many obstacles they face.
