Kathmandu, Sept. 10: The number of COVID-19 cases in Kathmandu Valley is increasing day by day and it recorded 464 new cases on Wednesday.
Similarly, Kathmandu remains the district with the most number of live COVID-19 cases in Nepal and it recorded 394 fresh cases on Wednesday.
“Of the new 464 cases detected in the Valley, 145 are females and 319 are males, according to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).
Among 394 cases, 104 females and 290 males were detected in Kathmandu; 36 cases, 20 females and 16 males were detected in Bhaktapur; and 34 cases, 21 females and 13 males were detected in Lalitpur.
Currently, all three districts of the Valley have more than 500 active COVID-19 cases. 1,081 new cases, six more deaths across nation
The MoHP on Wednesday confirmed 1,081 new cases of COVID-19 across the nation leading the national tally to 49,219 of which 15,025 are active.
“In 11,167 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests carried out in the last 24 hours, 1,081 persons were found with COVID-19 infection,” said Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson at the MoHP in the daily press briefing today.
According to the ministry, 918 COVID-19 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours after recovering from the virus infection. The recovery rate now stands at 68.8 per cent, said Dr. Gautam. As per the latest update, there are 15,025 active cases of COVID-19 of which, 7,988 patients are in institutional isolation and 7,037 are in home isolation.
“Among the active cases of COVID-19, some 162 patients are admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of which 22 are receiving treatment with ventilator facility,” said Dr. Gautam.
The number of districts with 500+ live cases has decreased significantly as per the latest update and now districts including Sunsari, Sarlahi, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Chitwan and Rupandehi have over 500 active infections.
Likewise, five districts including Dolpa, Mugu, Humla, Mustang and Manang have zero active infection cases so far. The MoHP confirmed six new COVID-19 related deaths on Wednesday.
“Six persons, three females and three males, succumbed to the virus infection in the last 24 hours,” read the statement released by the MoHP on Wednesday.
An 83-year-old female and a 67-year-old male of Kathmandu, a 73-year-old female of Kaski, a 42-year-old male or Arghakhanchi, an 80-year-old female of Banke and a 64-year-old male of Nawalparasi died while receiving treatment at various health facilities across the nation.
With this, the COVID-19 death toll has reached 312 and the death rate stands at 0.63 per cent.
The national COVID-19 tally has reached 49,219 including 33,882 cases of recovery and 312 death cases.
