Kathmandu, June 21: Meteorologists have said that the monsoon rain which diminished in the last two days is likely to recur.
According to Meteorologist Manju Basi for Weather Forecast Division under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the monsoon rain is expected to intensify on Sunday and Monday.
"There is a possibility of downpour in some places in the next two days," she said.
"This time, the monsoon is likely to be more active in the eastern part of the country especially in the Terai region," Meteorologist Basi told The Rising Nepal Daily on Sunday morning.
She said, "There is a possibility of more rain in the Terai region than in the hills."
According to meteorologists, earlier the monsoon was active in the western region and especially in the hilly areas, but this time it is expected to be more active in the eastern part of the country and especially on the plains.
Similarly, there is a possibility of heavy rain in one or two places of Province 1, Province 2 and Bagmati Province on Sunday afternoon and evening.
According to the weather update, light to moderate rain is expected in many parts of the country on Monday afternoon.
There is a possibility of heavy rain with thunder and lightning in one or two places of Province 1, Province 2 and Bagmati Province and very heavy rain in one or two places of Province 1, Province 2 and one or two places of Bagmati Province.
On Tuesday, light to moderate rain is expected in many parts of the country. There is a possibility of heavy rain with thunder/lightning at one or two places in Lumbini and Gandaki.
The DHM has issued a warning for the people of Province 1, Province 2 and Bagmati requesting all to take necessary precautions as there is a risk of heavy rains and landslides the hilly areas resulting in rising water levels in the major rivers and streams.
According to the Flood Forecast Division under the DHM, there is a possibility of flood in various rivers and streams even on Sunday.
According to a bulletin issued by the Division on Sunday morning, the water flow in the Mahakali and its tributaries is expected to increase on Sunday.
Similarly, in some small rivers, flow of water is likely to cross the flood alert level and reach the danger level.
Therefore, the branch has requested the locals to adopt high vigilance in small riparian areas.
