Kathmandu, Feb. 4: The government said it would help make the gold and silver businesses more organised.
The government has expressed its commitment to provide necessary support in policy arrangements, ensuring adequate supply of raw materials and organising training and international jewelery conference.
During a meeting with the delegation of the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association (FENEGOSIDA) on Wednesday, Secretary at the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies Baikuntha Aryal said that the ministry was ready to address the issues raised by the gold entrepreneurs.
He also pledged to increase the quota on gold supply as per the demand of the businessmen and to make the distribution of gold from the districts more systematic and effective in collaboration with the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB).
During the meeting, Secretary Aryal said that a draft has already been prepared for policy arrangements required for the operation of the gold and silver businesses and that he was committed to implementing it at the earliest.
He expressed his commitment to holding discussions and cooperating with the concerned bodies to arrange training as per the need for promotion of gold and silver businesses, increase employment opportunities and create conducive environment for the export of gold jeweleries.
On the occasion, FENEGOSIDA President Manik Ratna Shakya said that protection of consumer investment, availability of gold, silver and jewelry and the availability of pure and quality gold and silver jewelries were among their top priorities.
He also suggested the government to introduce immediate, medium and long term plans to make the business more systematic and effective by resolving the problems seen in the gold and silver businesses.
