Kathmandu, Mar. 22: Government has decided to mobilise security forces for managing people in isolation, quarantine and hospitals to contain the possible spread of COVID-19.
The meeting of the High Level Committee formed for the Prevention and Control of COVID-19 on Saturday decided to mobilise security forces in coordination with Ministry of Health and Population and Ministry of Home Affairs for maintaining discipline of the quarantined people in various hospitals and quarantine centres.
The government has also decided to accept the shelters offered voluntarily by individuals, hospitals, schools and hotels for the purpose of making temporary quarantine centres.
Talking to the journalists following the meeting, Minister for Finance Dr Yuba Raj Khatiwada, who is also the spokesperson of the government, said that the government would manage quarantine centres in coordination with the State governments and local bodies.
He said that the meeting had formed six different committees for the effective implementation of the government decision on COVID-19 made so far.
A committee to manage quarantine has been formed in coordination of Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation while two other committees have been formed for managing smooth supply of essential commodities and Patient Response Team.

been formed in coordination with Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Development for the social and political mobilisation to combat the COVID-19
Ministry of Health and Population will purchase the medicines and logistics inside the country while Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Foreign Affairs will facilitate to buy from the international market, he said.
He said that the Finance Ministry would provide required budget for the purchase of medicines and other logistics.
The meeting has decided to effectively mobilise the media for disseminating factual information to the grassroots.
The high level committee led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Ishwar Pokharel will oversight the functions of all committees.
He said that the meeting also decided to take effective measures to implement the decisions of the government.
