Kathmandu, Jan. 21: The government is to introduce ‘Nepal National Single Window System’ to facilitate international trade by linking import and export with customs from next week.
In a programme organised at the Ministry of Finance, Department of Customs informed that a single-window system will be introduced in the Department of Food
Technology and Quality Control, Department of Animal Services and Plant Quarantine Centre from next week.
Service starting from three departments will be expanded phase-wise, which will include government and private sectors.
According to the Department of Customs, once the single-window system is launched, the digital system will be launched in all the three departments and their subordinate offices.
Once the service is started, exporters and importers do not have to go to the departments and offices for licenses or permits. There will be no paperwork.
Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel expressed confidence that the one-window system would facilitate trade, control irregularities and revenue leakage, and speed up the work.
Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Lekhraj Bhatta said that special attention needs to be paid to the provision of skilled
manpower and monitoring system for the proper implementation of the system.
