Kathmandu, July 26: A meeting of the Central Security Committee has decided to begin preparations for the potential third wave of COVID-19 pandemic.
A meeting of the committee held at Singha Durbar under the chairmanship of Minister for Home Affairs Bal Krishna Khand Sunday afternoon took the decision.
A press statement issued after the meeting stated that the third wave of COVID-19 is likely to begin soon and the meeting decided to take required measures to prevent and control the damage the virus could cause.
According to Joint Secretary and chief of Peace and Security Division at the Home Ministry Phadindra Mani Pokhrel, the meeting took a four-point decision, including the preparedness to tackle the third wave of COVID-19.
The meeting also decided to facilitate the management of public health products and control the black marketing.
Pokhrel said the meeting decided to arrange helicopters to provide relief and rescue and food items to the flood-hit regions in different parts of the country.
Likewise, the meeting further decided to control and manage the cases of increasing cybercrimes.
The meeting was attended by Home Secretary Maheshwar Neupane, Chief of General Staff (CGS) and Lieutenant General Prabhuram Sharma of the Nepali Army, Inspector General of Nepal Police Shailesh Thapa Chhetri, Inspector General of Armed Police Force Shailendra Khanal, Chief of National Investigation Department Ganesh Prasad Adhikari, Acting Secretary of the Ministry of Defence Alok Chandra Shrestha and Chief of Peace and Security Division and newly appointed spokesperson of the Home Ministry Phadindra Mani Pokhrel.
