Bharatpur, Jan. 31: The Ministry of Urban Development has expedited the construction of ‘Womb to Tomb’, the physical infrastructure required for human life from birth to death.
The plan has been put forward by the Ministry to give concrete form to the concept of prosperous Nepal, happy Nepali by constructing necessary
social infrastructure as social capital, said Dr. Ramesh Prasad Singh.
“We have put forward infrastructure development not only for physical infrastructure but also for urban development of human life from ‘Womb to Tomb’,” he said.
Houses have been constructed for the homeless under the public housing programme and the construction of social infrastructure such as hospitals, health posts, green parks, amusement parks, crematoriums and roads has been expedited, Singh said.
The Ministry has put forward an important orbital plan to replace 750,000 thatched-roof houses within next three years, he added.
Under this plan, there is a programme to construct 150,000 safe citizen housing buildings in the current fiscal year itself, said Dr. Singh.
Similarly, for systematic and planned urbanization, the Ministry had put forward plans to pave 300 km of roads across the country, construct 43 big bus stations, 40 assembly halls and city halls, and build more than 50 amusement parks and green parks.
The Ministry has also put forward a plan to build 27 new cities across the country and 14 smart cities, including Bharatpur.
In the case of Chitwan, the Ministry has completed the work of blacktopping 8 km of roads in Bharatpur Metropolis and additional 42 km of roads is under construction in this fiscal year.
The Ministry has also put forward plans for the construction of BMC Hall, Ratnanagar Assembly Hall, Sauraha Assembly Hall, Rani Pokhari Park, Laxmi Narayan Park, Central Bus Park and Devghat Cremation House for the urban development of Chitwan.
BMC City Halll is also a major project under the development plan put forward by the Ministry.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli laid the foundation stone of the Bharatpur City Hall to be built near the Bypass Road at Bahratpur Metropolitan City (BMC)-10.
The Ministry has started construction of the City Hall as there is a lack of hall to hold a big assembly in the central part of the country.
