Kathmandu, Nov. 23: With the smooth supply of vaccines against COVID-19, the government has started administering the jabs to all the people aged above 18 years.
Earlier, the vaccination campaign focused on the target groups. Now it is available for all aged above 18.

Dr. Samir Kumar Adhikari, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), said that the government had decided to provide vaccines to all the people aged above 18 years, as the supply of vaccines was now smooth. All eligible people who missed the earlier vaccination campaigns are requested to visit the nearby vaccinations centres and get the jabs, said Dr. Adhikari. The people can contact the nearest health offices or local levels and ward offices to receive the vaccine, added Adhikari.

The government has a target of vaccinating two-thirds of the population by coming mid-January and all the target population by mid-April next year. According to the MoHP, 30.1 per cent of the total population has been given the first dose of vaccine while the population receiving the full course is 26.2 per cent.

According to the Kathmandu District Health Office, vaccination service is available at centres including Birendra Military Hospital; Nepal Police Hospital; Shahid Memorial Hospital, Kalanki; Bayodha Hospital, Balkhu; at Lhotse Building in New Buspark, Gongabu; and the Herbs Processing Centre, Jadibuti in Kathmandu.

Cholera vaccine being administered in Kapilvastu Meanwhile, the MoHP has started oral cholera vaccination campaign in the cholera-hit local levels of Kapilvastu since Sunday.
All people aged above one year will be administered the oral vaccine. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has provided 252,363 doses of oral cholera vaccine for the disease-hit local levels of Kapilvastu.

The disease, which has so far killed at least six people including three minors and infected 1,372 have spread in five local levels of the district including, Krishna Nagar Municipality, Yashodhara Rural Municipality, Shivaraj Municipality, Maharajgunj Municipality and Bijayapur Rural Municipality.

The oral vaccine will be administered in two doses of which second dose will be administered at a gap of 14 days.
With the vaccination campaign, awareness on sanitation and safe drinking water is also being generated at the cholera-hit areas.
