Kathmandu, Nov. 14: The government has formed a committee to find a suitable place for teachers' hospital as the government plans to establish the hospital for teachers this year.
The government has decided to establish a hospital for teachers from the replacement bill brought by the present government. As per the decision, the government has formed a five- member committee under the coordination of Dr. Bimal Chalise.
Some teachers and others have asked to make other general hospitals rather than establish specific hospital.
According to secretary at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Ram Prasad Thapaliya, a five-member committee has been formed for proper land management.
Secretary Thapaliya informed that the committee member include teachers and staffs and two months' time is given to them to find suitable land.
The committee will search land in the main cities of the country including Kathmandu, Butwal, Biratnagar and Chitwan, secretary Thapaliya said.
It is expected that more than 300,000 teachers across the country will be benefited after the establishment of teachers' hospital.
Meanwhile, stakeholders have been divided on the need of the establishment of the specific hospital.
Some teachers and others have asked to make other general hospitals rather than establish specific hospital.
But, Laxmi Kishore Subedi, general secretary of Teachers' Federation, has welcomed the government decision to establish hospital as there are large number of teachers in the country.
Establishment of the hospital is one point demand of teachers' federation out of 34-point demands of them.
